As a former high blood pressure patient, Horst Klier, the operator of the website "Blutdruckdaten.de", measures his own readings regularly. The only problem was documenting them. It was simply too time-consuming for him. So he took matters into his own hands and quickly developed software for recording and analyzing blood pressure readings. Using a web browser or an application (app) on mobile devices such as Android smartphones or the iPhone, the data can be entered conveniently and analyzed immediately. "I wanted a solution that was flexible, easy to use and, above all, free. The analyses are meaningful and make it easier for doctors to get an overview," explains Horst Klier, describing the reason for developing his software.

Interested users can now register for free at www.Blutdruckdaten.de and monitor their blood pressure. No personal data is collected for privacy reasons. A self-chosen username and an email address are all that is needed to register. After logging in, readings can be recorded at any time with minute-level precision and viewed as charts or statistics. The systolic (upper) and diastolic (lower) blood pressure readings, pulse and a comment are recorded. On request, a detailed analysis is sent as a PDF that the user can present to their attending physician. It is even possible to import readings previously recorded in spreadsheets.

Since the service launched three months ago, 10,000 users have already registered.
