Blood pressure diary and blood pressure app
Approximately one in five adults over the age of 40 has high blood pressure. Hypertension often develops slowly and without warning signs-the elevated blood pressure is usually discovered by chance. The most reliable way to detect high blood pressure is to measure it regularly.
For patients diagnosed with hypertension, regularly measuring their own blood pressure is the most important step in monitoring it. The risk of cardiovascular disease decreases when blood pressure is properly controlled.

Measuring and recording your own blood pressure
Various modern monitors are commercially available for measuring your own blood pressure. You can enter the readings you take yourself in a blood pressure app or blood pressure record. This provides an accurate record of your blood pressure readings over an extended period and makes trends in the readings easy to identify. If you record the readings carefully and regularly, your treating physician can immediately identify changes and fluctuations. These records support your treatment because a single reading taken during an examination often provides only limited information about your current blood pressure. The blood pressure record allows your physician to review your existing medication dosage and adjust your treatment accordingly if necessary. This enables your blood pressure to be optimally controlled. In addition to your blood pressure readings, you can use the blood pressure record to document whether you consistently take your medication, as well as your body weight and pulse.Tensana App
Documenting your readings in a blood pressure app such as Tensana is far more convenient and up to date than using a paper blood pressure log. Instead of recording your readings on paper, you can enter them in the app or have them transferred via Bluetooth directly from a compatible blood pressure monitor to the Tensana app. They are then displayed there both as a table and as a chart. This means that you always have your data with you on your smartphone, even if you entered it at home on your PC through your registered user account in the web app or using the app on your tablet. This means you no longer have to worry about forgetting your blood pressure log when visiting the doctor. Better still, you can take a PDF analysis of your recorded data to your doctor's appointment. It clearly presents the progression of the recorded readings and various statistics, making the success of the treatment easy to see. With Premium membership, the PDF analysis can also be sent directly to the doctor.
However, if you prefer to record your blood pressure readings on paper, we have prepared a Tensana blood pressure log for you to download.
Our tip: Register with Tensana now for free and record your blood pressure readings digitally, securely and conveniently. More information: How it works.
For an accurate measurement, please note the following:
Blood pressure should be measured at set times of day whenever possible and always on the same arm. Before measuring your blood pressure, you should relax in a seated position for a few minutes. During the measurement, the measurement site must be at heart level. When using a wrist monitor, you should therefore ensure that your arm is positioned correctly. The measured blood pressure is displayed as two values. The upper value is referred to as the systolic value and the lower value as the diastolic value. Both values are entered in the blood pressure record after the measurement. According to the guidelines, two measurements should be taken one to two minutes apart.
