Wrist blood pressure monitor
High blood pressure over a long period is dangerous. Heart attacks and strokes can result from undetected high blood pressure. Although one in three adults will have high blood pressure at some point in their life, many people notice nothing for years. Regularly measuring your blood pressure helps identify and manage the risk.
Preparing for the measurement
Please note that you should sit quietly for at least 5 minutes before measuring. Measure on the wrist that shows the higher readings.
The measurement itself is simple: sit comfortably without crossing your legs, put the blood pressure monitor on your wrist, fasten the Velcro strap and rest your arm as relaxed as possible so that the wrist with the device is at the level of your heart. The measurement point at heart level is extremely important for a correct reading! If needed, use a pillow or something similar.
The measurement
Switch the device on by pressing the button and wait. The cuff will inflate automatically and then the air pressure in the cuff slowly falls again, so the systolic and diastolic values as well as the pulse are recorded. At the end of the measurement a beep usually sounds. The remaining air escapes and the recorded values can be read off.Record your values
Depending on the device, 30, 60 or more measurements are stored. This makes it possible to later record the values in the Tensana app, enter them in a blood pressure record booklet, or take the device to your next doctor's appointment so the doctor can check how well your current treatment is working.Some devices indicate whether they are at the correct heart level. On these, the wrist blood pressure monitor will only start measuring once the correct height is reached. Devices with a USB port let you save the values on your computer and print them as a list or chart. Devices with Bluetooth allow direct transfer of the values to an app. With some devices it is possible to transfer the values directly to the Tensana app this way.
