Your mobile device must also support Bluetooth Smart in both its hardware and operating system.
We regularly receive feedback from customers who have problems with the app for their measuring device. Tensana is an alternative.
Tensana supports many measuring devices from different manufacturers and works across platforms. This lets you use your Bluetooth blood pressure monitor with complete convenience.
Procedure:
The app also offers a setup assistant for your Bluetooth monitor.
As soon as a Bluetooth device is found, the icon changes color and connects to the device. Once connected, the app checks whether it is a compatible device that can send blood pressure readings. If so, the data is retrieved while the screen in the app is locked. After the transfer, the data is synchronized immediately. If the small icon in the top corner changes color but no data is received, there is usually another Bluetooth Smart-enabled device nearby that is sending data.
The app displays the incoming connection and counts the data records received. It automatically detects whether one new measurement or several measurements are being transmitted. The time set on the monitor is used. Unfortunately, transferring all the data can sometimes take longer.
Some devices transmit faster, others more slowly. Some transmit data from all user memories, while others transmit data only for the current user. Some devices remember which data has already been transferred and transmit only new readings.
Important: The app must be running to receive data. Mobile operating systems automatically close apps to free up memory when they are running in the background and many other apps are being used. Make sure that Tensana is still running when data is to be received via Bluetooth.
Device notes:
A&D UA-651BLE: Before the first transfer, the device must be paired. To set the time, you need the manufacturer's app. If values are transmitted via Bluetooth, they are deleted from the device.Beurer BC 54 and BM 81 easyLock: For the first transfer, the device must be paired. The device shows a 6-digit code on the display, which you must enter on your smartphone.
boso medicus system: Before the first transfer, the device must be paired. To set the time, you need the boso app. If values are transmitted via Bluetooth, they are deleted from the device. After a battery change, it may be necessary to set up the device again using the manufacturer's app.
Wrong time: Sometimes the monitor sends a time that is one hour off. This is a problem with the standard/daylight saving time setting in the boso app. You then need to reset the time using the boso app. You may also need to pair the device again.
boso resolved this problem in a newer version of the app by always using Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). We have therefore added a "Measuring device sends time in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)" setting under the Bluetooth settings as of app version 8.2.2. This compensates for this particular behavior. This is not a change to the measuring device, but to the boso app. This means that this setting is required depending on the version of the boso app.
Omron Evolv: Before the first transfer, the device must be paired. To set the time, you need the Omron app. The device has only one user memory. If values are transmitted via Bluetooth, they are deleted from the device.
Special feature: The device essentially only has one storage slot and is intended for one user. If an irregular heartbeat or movement occurs during the measurement, the value is transmitted to storage slot 5.
General note for Omron devices: Before the first transfer, it may be necessary to pair the device. To do this, press and hold the Bluetooth button for about 3 seconds until a P appears on the display. A pairing request should then appear on your device. Accept it and the transfer will begin. Each value is transmitted via Bluetooth only once. If you are transferring to the Blutdruckdaten app, make sure the Omron Connect app is closed, as it may intercept the data. If the device is used by more than one person, please make sure to transfer the measurements directly before someone else takes their measurement as well. Otherwise, some measurements could be lost for one of the people due to the fact that Bluetooth transfer is only possible once.
Silvercrest SBM 69: Before the first transfer, the device must be paired. In the process, you must enter the code that the device shows on its display.
Storage slots and users:
If data from different user storage slots on the device are received, the app asks which storage slot to import data from. The app remembers this setting. If, during a transfer, data from a storage slot that differs from the previously used user storage slot is sent, but no data is sent from the previously used storage slot, the app will inform you. This is intended to prevent mixing data from different users.
The app manages these settings for each user, because multiple user accounts can be managed in the app. However, these settings are not synchronized with the server.
If you want to switch the storage slot on the device and reassign it in the app, please click the message about the last transfer. This allows the settings to be reset.
Note: Internally, the storage slots are numbered starting at 0. So the first storage slot has the number 0. Some devices may differ from this, e.g. the BC57. Then the app will display device storage slot 1 as 2 and storage slot 2 as 3. However, this does not affect correct functionality. For devices known to us, the app displays the storage slots as shown on the device.
There is an option called Only read the newest measurement regardless of the storage slot. If you enable this option, the app will always take the newest measurement from the monitor, regardless of the storage slot. This option can be useful when a monitor is used by multiple people and each person is not clearly assigned a storage slot. This happens, for example, in nursing homes.
Common problems and their causes:
The data is transferred, but is then not available: Please check the date on the monitor. Especially at the beginning of a year, we receive many inquiries about missing data that turn out to be due to the year being set incorrectly on the monitor.Data transfer does not work: Does the transfer work with the manufacturer's app? If you also experience problems with it even though your device meets all the requirements (operating system/hardware), please try restarting the device.
Sometimes you may also need to restart the blood pressure monitor. To do so, remove the batteries, wait briefly, and then reinsert them or insert new batteries. Caution: The date and time settings are usually lost when the batteries are changed. Please set them correctly again before your next measurement.
In some cases, if problems occur, it may also help to unpair the monitor and smartphone and then pair them again. Of course, this only applies to devices that require pairing.
Another device is interfering with the connection: If the Bluetooth icon turns blue but no data is transferred, another Bluetooth device is transmitting. The app connects to the device and then recognizes that it is not a blood pressure monitor. The device identifier is stored internally, and no further connection is made to this device. Nevertheless, in very rare cases, another Bluetooth device may continuously prevent a connection to the blood pressure monitor.
Location: On most devices, location services must be enabled to receive data via Bluetooth Low Energy. This is a requirement of the respective device and cannot be bypassed by us. We do not access your location.
Wrong time:
Many monitors use a simple, continuous clock. After switching from daylight saving time to standard time and vice versa, you then have to set it again on the device.
Tip: Set the time on your blood pressure monitor manually to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). For winter time, set it back by one hour, and for summer time, set it back by two hours. Then, in the settings of your Tensana app, select the option to use UTC. This means you no longer have to adjust the clock on your blood pressure monitor twice a year for summer and winter time. However, the monitor will then display UTC on the screen instead of the correct local time.
